What is Epilepsy?

Management
Anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) can control seizures in most people. Common medications include sodium valproate, carbamazepine, and lamotrigine. Consistent medication timing is especially important for seizure control.

Epilepsy is common in South Africa, with higher prevalence in rural areas. Free anti-epileptic medication is available through the public health system. Driving regulations require seizure-free periods before licensing.
